At The Walden School, we believe that “Children are born to learn, not to be taught”. Children are driven by an innate and tacit desire to make sense of the world and find their own purpose. It is their natural state to observe, deconstruct, reconstruct and create their own knowledge. Our learning environments are constructed to facilitate such knowledge construction, these environments are challenging for the child yet child-friendly and supportive of their growth. Our pedagogy helps the child and supports their learning over a long-term integrating with rigorous learning standards. We at Walden’s believe that early learning experiences involving inquiry and creativity have significant long-term benefits and thus, have embraced Artful Learning and Arts-based learning to facilitate a nurturing learning environment.
